I enchanted a weapon that casts soul trap, had a bunch of different empty soul gems of each type, (Grand, Greater, Common, Lesser, Petty). After doing a bunch of quests I noticed that most of or all of my Grand and Greater soul gems were filled with Petty and Lesser souls, even though I had empty soul gems of that type that could have been filled instead.Soul Gems are vessels to contain souls.
